Paul Veth When I get sick, I ask myself: did I sleep enough? Did I eat well? Did I go to the gym? Because when I get sick, it's my fault. When my car breaks down, it's my fault. When my business fails, it's my fault. Most people hate that idea. And I get it. But when you conclude that you are at the wheel, you can actually do something about it. The moment you say it comes from outside of you, you lose that. When my manager made a mistake, I told my team it was mine. When someone on my team made a mistake, I told my manager it was mine. I didn't teach it in the right way. I didn't explain it properly. I'm always looking at what I could have done better to support her. This is not advice. I just want you to feel what it does. Think about the things you hate in your life. The things that feel completely out of your control. What if you had control? What would you do? At that moment, you start to see opportunities where you normally see boundaries. P.S. Paul Veth When my car breaks down, it's my fault. When I get sick, it's my fault. When someone on my team made a mistake, I told my manager: it's my fault. I had 26 people in my team at a big phone company. When Linda messed up, I didn't point at Linda. I asked what I could have done better to support her. And I wanted Linda to do the same thing. Taking full ownership, both ways. This is not advice. I just want you to feel what it does. Because when you grab the wheel, something shifts. You start to see opportunities where you normally see boundaries. That's what control does to you. And yeah, there are things you genuinely can't control. When my mother died, I couldn't bring her back. But I had full control over how I coped with it. And that helped me so much. So think about the thing in your life or business that's not going well right now. Ask yourself: what if I actually had control here? What would I do? You'll find more power than you think. P.S.
