Paul Veth Someone told me once: if you are here on Earth, the chances are very big that you are climbing the wrong mountain. Most of the time it's your father's mountain, or your mother's. The system hands you a car and a house and a lot of people are not happy with the work they do. That's what robots changing everything actually means for us: finally enough time to figure out why you're really here. That's the solarpunk future I'm building toward.

Paul Veth I'm a real AI and robotics optimist. And the vision I keep coming back to has a name: solarpunk. Houses built with natural materials. Vertical gardens. Solar integrated everywhere. Water flowing through it all. Transport and energy integrated within nature. Humans living inside nature, not on top of it. When I was at the gym this morning I was suffering, and I loved it. I love suffering, but for the right things. Doing dishes when you hate it? That's suffering for a robotic task. Let the robot handle it. Same with building roads, generating clean energy, cleaning the oceans, laying down houses integrated with the land. Let robots thrive in being robots, so we don't have to be robots anymore. What stays when that happens is more human. Connect with each other, enjoy life, enjoy nature, explore your passions more. You need enough, and then you can start enjoying life and figure out why you're really here. Someone told me once: most people are climbing the wrong mountain. Usually it's your father's mountain, or your mother's. The school system handed you a path, a degree, a company, a car, a house. And maybe you're not even happy. That changes when everyone does what they truly want. And I believe AI and robotics can make that possible, if we build it together and truly understand what's possible. When we see that future, the solarpunk future where houses, humans, transport and energy are integrated within nature, that's truly amazing.
